The plane leaves tonight, and I expect to spend two nights in transit with one day in London on Friday. I hope to reach Cape Town on Saturday morning. This spring weather is so lovely and long-awaited in New England that it is hard to concentrate on all the details of this trip. But now I am down to the minutiae of re-considering the bites in the camera chip.
Soon enough, this adventure will begin. Certainly, there will be some relief in knowing that there is nothing left but to go.

About Me

- I am going to South Africa as part of a long-awaited sabbatical. I serve as a pastor of a congregational church in a suburb of Boston. South Africa is someplace I have wanted to see since I was a young girl and listened to stories from missionaries in my home church. I have been fortunate to find a program that sets up partnerships between Massachusetts congregations and Zulu churches in Kwazulu Natal on the Eastern coast of South Africa. I hope to visit several of Zulu churches and learn about their work. these churches grew out of missions which were started by churches in Massachusetts over 100 years ago, and they have maintained some contact with the Massachusetts conference. I am eager to learn about the churches and explore with them whether there will be a possibiity for our church to enter into such a partnership. I am also eager to spend some time with my daughter who has been studying in Cape Town this semester. We have some adventures planned for our time together, and she is looking forward to showing me this beautiful country which she has come to love.
